“Witches are naturally nosy,” said Miss Tick, standing up.
“Well, I must go. I hope we shall meet again. I will give you some free advice, though.”
“Will it cost me anything?”
“What? I just said it was free!” said Miss Tick.
“Yes, but my father said that free advice often turns out to be expensive,” said Tiffany.
Miss Tick sniffed. “You could say this advice is priceless,” she said, “Are you listening?”
“Yes,” said Tiffany.
“Good. Now…if you trust in yourself…”
“Yes?”
“…and believe in your dreams…”
“Yes?”
“…and follow your star…” Miss Tick went on.
“Yes?”
“…you’ll still be beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy. Goodbye.”
[ Terry Pratchett – Discworld – The Wee Free Men ]
It’s a good thing you ain’t lazy.
Yeah 😀 I know – The main thing about this quote was it made me laugh. 😉
Also it reminded me that you can do everything within your power, but then, well it’s out of your hands 😀
:*
I’m pleased you’re so well read with the great philosophers.
Nanny Ogg would be proud of you, dearie.
I most certainly hope so – afterall I still have my heart set on being the next apprentice to the Lancre Coven 😉
love. is there a love button?
Awe, thank you! There should be a love button, shouldn’t there? Maybe not especially for this post, but I have come across some posts that were loveable rather than likeable – like your’s about standup comedian family (and I quite enjoyed your citizen lawyer one as well 😉 )
Reminds me of a quote I often use, “Anything free is worth what you paid for it.”
So true! I’m going to steal that and pass it off as my own – don’t say, you haven’t been warned 😉
So true!
I know – I’m a bit obsessed with the discworld series at present – reading and rereading them – best laugh(es) 😉
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh? Really? Why uh-oh? It made me laugh – and the one thing I AM confident about is that I was not lazy, so it was actually quite a mood lifter 😉 Also I loved the girls facial expression: Priceless! 😀
So true! Trust in God and tie up your camel, as they say.
I’ve never heard that saying 😉 – That’s funny 😀 How come I had to un-spam you, btw? Same thing happened with Worrywart a couple of weeks/days ago – weird. WordPress description of spam is so not mine – I wished all my spam comments were as thought through and heartfelt as yours 😉
ooh I love Wee Free Men! It’s the only Terry Pratchet book I’ve ever read.
Oh, but then you NEED to read more! Mr. Pratchet and his wonderful tales saved my life (or well at least my sense of humour, no need to get overly dramatic here!) on more than one occasion! 😉
I personally prefer the “Death-” and the “Witchestales”, but really each one of the discworld series is so readable! 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment: I really appreciate it! 😀
