βEVERY WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
- enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or needs to,
- something perfect to wear, if the employer or the date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour,
- a youth she’s content to leave behind,
- a past juicy enough, that she’s looking forward to retelling it in her old age
- a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill and a black lace bra,
- one friend, who always makes her laugh and one who lets her cry,
- a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family,
- eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored,
- a feeling of control over her destiny.
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
- how to fall in love without losing herself,
- how to quit a job, break up with a lover and confront a friend without ruining the friendship,
- when to try harder and when to walk away,
- that she can’t change the length of her calves, the width of her hips or the nature of her parents,
- that her childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over,
- what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more,
- how to live alone, even if she doesn’t like it,
- whom she can trust, whom she can’t and why she shouldn’t take it personally,
- where to go (be it to her best friend’s kitchen table or a charming inn in the woods), when her soul needs soothing,
- what she can and can’t accomplish in a day, a month and a year.
Love this. π
Oh yay, Dianne! So glad you loved this! π
And every man should have?
The acquaintance of such a woman, perhaps?
At best, I guess, but seeing as I’m no where near being such a woman I don’t think I should advertise this too loudly here or I might find myself replaced π (then again maybe not, since he doesn’t really read this – whew safe π )
I, personally, of course, think every man should have a sexy beard stubble on his face and an outdoorsy vibe to him, but I’m not too sure if that’s universal either – Then again it IS a man’s world, right?! Hell, I guess that means you guys can be / have / know whatever the hell you please π – Enjoy! π
My eldest daughter said “So today is International Women’s Day. When’s International Men’s Day?”
My wife replied: “All year…”
Love it! I’m a fan of your wife now π Oh and just for the record, March 14th is “Steak and BJ Day”, which is probably more like the male equivilant to Valentines Day, but I guess it could pass as the International Men’s Day as well π
Well I can never say that this blogging lark hasn’t taught me a thing or two…!
We live and don’t learn , that’s our motto (Calvin & Hobbes – Watterson) π
I’d never come across C&H until a good friend at work mentioned them a few days ago. Twice in a week is a tad creepy!!
Ha ha – that’s fun-ny (stressing it two-syllable-like) π I actually quote from C&H ALL the time – I have been told it can be quite annoying π
I’m quite blessed in this vast universe to have found such a woman who lovingly companions my side as I do her. It’s eerily special to have someone so strong, independent and put-together choose to live their life with me. Her love makes me pretty damn special and lucky! π
Great post, thanks.
You ARE a lucky man – good for you papa – pretty sure you deserve the lovely lady too π You are such a sweetheart – my money’s on she feels the same about you too π
