“All good books are alike
in that they are truer than if they had really happened
and after you are finished reading one
you will feel that all that happened to you
and afterwards it all belongs to you:
the good and the bad,
the ecstasy,
the remorse and sorrow,
the people and the places
and how the weather was.
If you can get so that you can give that to people,
then you are a writer.”
[ Ernest Hemingway ]
Oh my holy beans, I had never read that quote of his before. Wowza, he’s so right {of course} 🙂
I hadn’t either, Anessa. But Hemingway’s (always) one for turning my world upside down (and by that the right way around!) 🙂 And I know he’s right. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I wished a grand story would have been written by someone who was capable of doing it justice. I am by no means a writer, but I recognize one when I read his (or her) words 😉
